What is the difference between JNTU and OU?
In JNTU-HYD, if a student secures more than 70% it’s awarded with the highest grade i.e A+ but in OU a student can get easily around 85-90%. This clearly states that the standard of OU is way more better than Jntuh.
Both JNTUH and OU are well reputed and have their own advantages.
Recognition: JNTUH, is NAAC accredited A+ university and OU has been awarded a five-star rating by NAAC. Total 200+ colleges come under JNTUH whereas only 8 colleges are there in OU.
JNTU-HYD was established in the year 1972.Osmania University was established way back in the year 1918.
Syllabus of JNTU tends to change every 2 years. On the Other Hand, OU syllabus changes hardly one in a while say 10 years.
Question papers of JNTU is of 4 different sets type just like the pattern of CBSE Board exams. Osmania University only has single set in terms of question paper type.
Fair correction: The advantage of having less no. of colleges is less burden in correcting papers and hence fair correction. You will rightly get marks for what you write. Even if OU correction goes wrong for some reason, Revaluation will cost you just 300 Rs per subject. JNTU on the other hand has usually been under the scanner for faulty correction. Revaluation will cost around 1000 Rs per subject.
Projects :JNTU has an edge over OU in this criteria. JNTU students need to submit a mini project in 4–1 followed by a major project in 4–2.Whereas in OU you just to have to present the idea(abstract)of your major project in 4–1 and the completed project by the end of 4–2.If you don’t want to pressurize yourself with more than one project then choose OU.
If you look at the points then Osmania University has a clear edge over Jntuh but when it comes to value of certificate it is same in both the university . When it comes to Masters or like M.tech or MBA or MCA or any other masters course Osmania university has a great certificate value.
Why Students choose Jntuh then?
The reason why most of the students opt in for Jntuh is that they don’t have any other proper option. Most of the students do not get that good ranks to qualify in colleges affiliated to OU. As there are less number of colleges affiliated to OU hence the seats are limited .
The other reason is locality , you can find at least one college affiliated to Jntuh in your nearby area . Students opt for such colleges instead of going to Hyderabad even getting good rank.
Third reason would be PR schemes by colleges. Now what are these PR schemes ? These schemes are where faculty or other agents of colleges come to councelling centers , your home and Praise student and advise them to join in so and so college and even college pays commission to such people, its just a refer and earn scheme. These agents can be your uncle , your brothers friend, your far far far relative, your brother-in-law or a faculty who is teaching in so and so college.
Students hardly have any other option to join . Either you join in Jntuh affiliated college or OU and there is no other option. Some people may opt for autonomous campus or any other private universities but the fee would surely be a burden in such colleges.
So think wise before you join Engineering and comment below if I have missed any other information. If you are still a student of Jntuh and any other students wants to join Engineering instead of asking them to join your college just advise them the right thing so that their future will be saved.
