So today's session is about digital marketing job profile. I
know it is such a hyped topic that if I had to categorize today's generation of
students, I can easily categorize them into two. One is that data assigns data
analyst and business analyst kind of students. And then there are students who
want to pursue this digital marketing field. I'll tell you the reason also in
this session, that's why it is so hyped. It will help you to very carefully
pick this field if it is actually your interest area or you're just picking it
because of the hype. So, you have to be careful about that. I'll very quickly
talk about the salary part as well and whether it requires high level of coding
or not, the English language if the communication skill is required or not. So
if that is something that interests you and you have questions related to this
subject, then keep on
When I was working on this post and almost finished it, there was this question
in particular which caught my attention. It was sent to me over email by a
student. And then I realized in the past also a lot of students have asked this
question . So I'm including it here because it's very important to clarify this
doubt . And the question is that “Doing a Digital Marketing course just as a
course, not going after the digital marketing job actually, but just being an Engineering
student, doing this digital marketing course just for the sake of it, just to
have it in your resume, how it will impact or how it will help you in your job career?”. So to this, my answer is it will not help you in any way if you are
not doing your job in digital marketing field. The course that you did is not
going to help you in any way in your further career. It is as good as that. You
want to go from Hyderabad to Chennai, but you also gathered information about
how to reach Karimnagar from Hyderabad. And then you expect that knowing that
information about Karimnagar will help you FastTrack your journey towards Chennai.
It will not very clearly because those two are very different pull apart from
each other. So please avoid doing digital marketing course. Don't waste your
money and time on it if you are not going to choose any profile which is
related to digital marketing premiere. So with that clear understanding Lets answer some questions.....
1.WHAT IS DIGITAL MARKETING?
So, to begin with, at a very high level, digital marketing refers to marketing
delivered through digital channels. Those channels can be any your search
engine marketing optimization, your email marketing, your social media
marketing and then you have your content marketing. So now if you talk about
job opportunity or getting job into digital marketing field. Getting a digital
marketing course or certificate from anywhere, no matter from where you get it.
It in itself is not a guarantee of job. So many students have this wrong
assumption about hyped job profiles be data science, data analyst or digital
marketing. They think if it is in trend and they do it, they'll automatically
get the job. Please understand guys, the funder of getting a job remains the
same. You did your B.Tech, that's also a course that's also a certificate of
four years that you spend in your College. Does it give you a job
automatically? No. It does not. You have to be good at the skills to get a job.
So, the fact remains the same to get a job in digital marketing field as well.
It does not change.
2. What are the number of opportunities for a digital
marketing job in a company like MNC normal it MNC, then what do you think?
How many digital marketing experts one company can have? One, two, three or
maybe ten or 20. If the company is really big, huge. It has more than 20,000
technical developers working for it or maybe any other services. So just 1020
digital marketing experts would be enough because they are not developing
anything. They are creating brand awareness and doing the marketing of the
company which is pretty doable with a team of ten to 20 people. Then what do
you think? Why the job of digital marketing is so high? Why it is so high that
the number of opportunities does not look as promising. The job also is not
guaranteed. Then why it is so high? Let's understand with the help of one
example which all Indians will relate to, every one of us know about the job
career of a CA people are obsessed with a lot of students prepare and appear
for CA exams in our country. When you see the number of opportunities of a CA
job in an MNC, it's the same. Like how many CA’s one company can have one, two,
Max 1020. If the company is really big then is it not a good career option?
It is definitely a good career option.
The number one reason is that they can earn really well and opportunities are
huge. How? Because they work with small businesses and they can work with a lot
of them palliative. They can have several clients in one go and the same goes
with digital marketing field as well. If you have done the course, you have the
certificate, you learned the skills really well. Go to that corner shop of your
street, maybe a Kirana Store in your street. Tell them that you have the skills
and you can help them get their business online and you can get them see the
results that they get from your marketing that you did on the various digital
channels for them. And like that. Maybe you can do that for free for one
client, two client, your first few clients. Or you can charge some minimal fee
for them and then start building portfolio your portfolio through them. Your
success stories. Add that in your resume. Let people know that you are an
expert. Once you start doing that, you will see you can work with multiple
clients. And India has such a huge unorganized market.
We all know it. At every nook and corner of our country there is some small
business running and you can help them get online because nowadays everything
is going online. So that way it's a huge, huge market for you to earn and
succeed. But for that you have to be really good at skills and you have to
create opportunities for yourself. If you're thinking that you get a digital
marketing course done or the certificate that will land you in a job
automatically in an MNC, that is not going to happen, please do not fool yourself.
Even if somebody promises you that it all depends on your skill, it is a great
opportunity career, but you have to create those opportunities for yourself.
3.What Salary Can we expect?
Okay, so now moving to the salary part of it. Even if you do
get a job after doing your digital marketing course or certificate, if you get
a job in a company, the salary will be equal to the salary of any other fresher
like 10,000 to 20,000 in between. That average that you'll get. If you do that
course, you'll earn like a lakh per month. That's not going to happen. Slowly
you can build up your portfolio, you showcase the result to the company. Maybe
by third or fourth year. You'll really scale up your earnings in this field,
but not in the beginning.
4.Does this course require Coding?
Now answering the
technical part of it, whether it requires coding or not. No, it does not
require coding. It requires very basic HTML stuff that will be taught in every
course that you do for digital marketing, it does not require any high level of
coding, just the basic HTML and that's pretty doable. It is taught in each and
every course.
5. How good the communication Must be for this Job?
Most of the students have the problem of communication in
college days, Now answering the communication question for this job, whether it
requires a good communication or not, whether it requires you to be really good
at English language or not. See, as I said, if you're working with small
businesses, no need of English, no need of good communication. You can
communicate in whatever language they are comfortable with. Their what matters
is results. You have to show them the real results, how you have helped them
scale their revenue every month with the help of your advertising skills. But
if you get a job in a company, then communication skills, your English language
skills becomes a must have because you'll be working with lot of teams and most
of the teams are global in an MNC and you will get inputs from various teams
which they want you to include in your digital marketing agenda.
So you will have to interact with them on a day to day basis. If you are not
good at English language then it's going to be difficult for you to understand
them and then there can be lot of miscommunication which can lead to bad
results which will further impact your performance in the company so you want
to check that out. So, guys the conclusion is getting a job after digital
marketing certificate or course is the same as getting a job after any other
course that you do or certificate that you do. There's nothing special about
digital marketing course when it comes to landing a job automatically yes it
has huge opportunity because we have a lot of unorganized business in India. If
you can help them scale up through your digital marketing skills nothing like
it you can earn in Lakhs as well so choose wisely, choose bases your interest
your skill not because everybody else is doing it so choose very consciously
and with awareness with that guys, we came to the end of this video hope you
derived some value out of it and if you still have questions related to the
subject please leave them in the comment section .
By writing this post we @examupdt is not asking you to buy a
digital marketing course nor we are asking to enroll or make a career in it. To our
observation most of the social media pages are selling the digital marketing
courses and certificates to the final year students or the students who are
actively looking for jobs . Please beware of such posts and if you desperately
want to make career in digital marketing please take an advice from people who
are already working in that domain.
